Since her Call to the Bar in 2004, Lisa Manaigre (formerly Sumka) has positively impacted the lives of numerous clients and their families. Formerly associated with D’Arcy & Deacon LLP, Lisa was proud to launch Sternat Manaigre Law Corporation with Priscilla Sternat-McIvor in March, 2017.
Family Law is a natural fit for Lisa, who welcomes the opportunity to help people through difficult transitions. Helping her clients create a clear plan for the future so they can look after their families may help ease some of the stress involved in separation and divorce.
While divorce is a large part of Lisa’s work, Family Law involves a lot more. Lisa is experienced in working on adoptions, Cohabitation Agreements, Pre-Nuptial Agreements, custody and guardianship proceedings and variations to child and spousal support. Lisa particularly enjoys working in the Collaborative Law milieu, where the focus is taken away from the court system and placed on finding resolution through cooperation and interest-based negotiation.
Lisa is also pleased to offer Estate Planning and Real Estate (purchase and sale) services to her clients.
A stickler for details, Lisa works best when she’s as informed as possible. That way she can provide her clients with sound, practical advice. When working with Lisa, you can expect organization and for your file to receive attention from beginning to end. She’s efficient, practical and considerate about your resources. Detail oriented and creative, Lisa may be able to suggest several different options for resolving sometimes difficult and emotional matters. Previous clients know Lisa’s caring, empathy and good listening skills help build trust and confidence as she handles their file.
Lisa takes pride in balancing home and work because it makes her a better lawyer. She enjoys time with her family and friends and has a particular focus on being active. Lisa’s favourite activities include cycling (mainly indoor, as she is inherently accident prone on her mountain bike), yoga, hiking and kayaking.
